Experimental and theoretical approach of the hydrolysis of pelleted magnesium alloys scraps

Industrial Mg alloys scraps containing 3% of Al and Zn (and about 20% MgO Mg(OH)2) were ball milled with the addition 5 wt% C Ni, Cu, Co or SiO2. 3 h milling needed to obtain optimum hydrolysis performances mixtures (e.g. yields almost 90% obtained within 1 min). Pellets such powder prepared as it is easier for an application. The shape curves highlights first incubation period depending on compactness pellets then a second part logarithmic shape. A new model presented that allows take into account both parts curve. applied successfully all having various compactness.
